The first craft workshop took place in the fabulous, newly refurbished Hive with 13 participants making beautiful crochet butterflies, led by Rosa Maria Welsh. The group included three thirteen year olds, who also completed one of the colourful butterflies to take home. Believe it or not, these butterflies started as a simple flower with 8 petals, but if you want to know more, you’ll have to join the next crochet workshop!
The Hive is a wonderful room downstairs at Workaid. It’s always a Hive of Activity and now has a full selection of cupboards to house materials for classes, as well as better tea and coffee making facilities, a set of matching tables (!), super non-slip flooring and the lighting is very good for all activities.
Crafts & Coffee sessions take place in The Hive at Workaid in Chesham on the first Wednesday of each month 10am – 12noon. Everyone is most welcome to join us for a cuppa and a chat while working on their current projects.
Crafts & Coffee demonstrations and workshops take place on the third Wednesday of each month 10am -12noon. These are led by experienced practising artists and crafts people to provide tasters in a wide variety of subjects – from wood sculpture to textiles, teddy bears, knitting, musical instruments, stump work embroidery, lace making, straw platting, crochet, card making, sewing and knitting machines, and many more exciting topics.
On Wednesday, 13th September Marilyn Pipe will be demonstrating and encouraging you to make A Bunch of Flowers in Silk Ribbon and on Wednesday, 20th September Isobel Fletcher de Tellez will be showing participants how to conquer the very popular to Tunisian Crochet.
Current ongoing weekly or monthly classes include Spanish Conversation (alternate Friday afternoons), Drawing & Painting (Wednesday afternoons), Art Journaling (Saturday, September 16th, monthly), Stitch with Janet Edmonds (Thursday, 21st September) and Altered Books (October 13th & 14th).
Come and join in the fun!
