AVVIK Graduates

Albert Valley Institute of Vocational Studies Karugutu (AVVIK) in Western Uganda is a progressive secondary school and vocational training institute. We have helped them establish a centre of excellence for vocational training. The courses include tailoring and design, carpentry, electrical installation, motor mechanics, and metal fabrication and welding.

Tailoring Graduates

Ennis Mbambu, Loice Muhinbo, Jovinate Musoke, and Macelline Mask are friends and fellow tailoring graduates from AVVIK.

This group of four young women all 18 years-old and younger, were provided with a treadle sewing machine. To increase productivity and efficiency they have rented a second sewing machine themselves.

Since graduating, they have set up their own company. So far, the young women have made a small profit from their business. If they keep progressing, Kas, our in-country assessor, will release one of the newly refurbished sewing machines to them.

They display a strong work ethic and their joy and comradery are impressive.

Carpentry Graduates

Dan Kule, Gadifine Kule, Pascal Baluku, and Godwin Masereka, aged 17-19, graduated in carpentry from AVVIK in 2024.

They received a carpentry starter kit with the necessary tools to help them get started with their training.

Now, they have a small workshop and make furniture to order.

As with the four girls who graduated from tailoring at the same time, they are slowly developing their business and hope to become successful entrepreneurs.

Both of these groups of graduates display great teamwork and have strong business plans suggesting a promising future for their businesses.
