Our impact
Uganda
In Uganda, we partner with Albert Valley Institute of Vocational Studies in Karugutu District of Western Uganda (AVVIK), and Organisation for Community Action (OCA) in North Eastern District of Lira, Uganda.
Albert Valley Institute of Vocational Studies
Eryeza Kasiringi (Kas), our in-country assessor, manages AVVIK, a progressive secondary school and vocational training institute. We have helped them to establish a centre of excellence in vocational training. This includes tailoring and design, carpentry, electrical installation, motor mechanics and metal fabrication and welding. Learning how to repair and service sewing machines, a much needed and rarely provided course in Uganda, is offered to young people.
We work with AVVIK to collect, repair and reinstate broken sewing machines from projects throughout the region. The machines are provided to selected vocational training partners so they can be loaned out to their tailoring graduates.
Together, we work closely with the following vocational training organisations in Western Uganda:
• Agape of Hope
• Empathy Vocational Training Institute
• Kirabaho Vocational Training Institute
• Basu Bandu Rural Development Association
• Rubanda Technical Institute
Organisation for Community Action (OCA)
In 2025 we established a new partnership with OCA who are based in the North Eastern District of Lira, Uganda. This will focus on tailoring and design, sewing machine maintenance and servicing and practical business and social media skills. OCA works to empower people in remote rural communities and to lift them out of poverty. The aims and objectives of our organisations are a natural fit.
Together, we believe we can maximise our impact.

Eryeza Kasivringi (Kas)
Our in country assessor, manages Albert Valley a progressive secondary school which has been so successful that several years ago the local authorities asked him to establish a vocational training unit on site.
