Joram is 19 years old and the head of his family. His parents passed away several years ago, leaving him to take on the responsibility of caring for his three younger siblings.
Last year Joram graduated in tailoring from Albert Valley Vocational Training Institute (AVVIK).
Since then, he has rented a small room on the main street of Karugutu Town in the Western Region of Uganda.
Like many tailors, his work varies from season to season, but he manages to generate a decent income after covering rent and material costs.
He uses his earnings to send his siblings to school and provide food for his family.
Consequently, he can save only a small amount for himself and his future. However, he hopes to buy more stock and expand his workshop.
Joram is a determined invidual with great prospects. His advice to others without a skill is: “believe in yourself, get the same training as I received and work hard!”
