Judy, aged 32-years-old enrolled at the Lusaka Youth Resource Training Centre (LYRC) after a friend recommended it as a place where she could develop new skills. She had previously trained as an assistant nurse, but after graduating realised she didn’t feel the work was fulfilling enough for her.
After her studies in tailoring and design, Judy now produces clothing to order. Most of her work is seasonal, with school uniforms making up a significant portion of her orders.
Here, Judy displays a security company uniform she made as part of a large contract completed earlier in the year.
As a tailoring and design graduate, she has found immense satisfaction in her new career and hasn’t looked back since.
