Rita, Basu Bandu Rural Development Association
Rita dropped out of school after completing primary school and then heard about a tailoring course at Basu Bandu Rural Development Association (BRUDA), so she decided to apply and at the age of 17, she graduated.
Rita did so well on the course that she was offered employment as a trainer at BRUDA. For someone so young this is a real achievement! She teaches several students how to mark out patterns and cut material. Rita has continued her training attending a sewing machine repair and servicing course at Albert Valley Institute of Vocational Studies, funded by Workaid.
Rita currently lives on her own renting a couple of small rooms in the local town. Her longer-term plan is to save enough to set up her own tailoring and design business.
