James' Volunteer Experience
James, a Tunnel Boring Shift Engineer, first began volunteering at Workaid almost 9 months ago. Hear in his own words about his experience.
I love volunteering at Workaid because I know I’m making a direct difference in other people’s lives, learning new skills, and meeting amazing people with stories to tell. The volunteers here come from so many backgrounds and have such a range of knowledge, you can be learning from electrical engineers, tailors, mechanics and so many more, with everyone being happy to pass on their skills.
Without doubt, the best part of being at Workaid is that I’m able to see the results of the effort I put in. No one can change the world but, when I repair a piece of machinery, I know that I’m doing my small bit to give someone in a developing country the freedom to improve and steer their life in the direction they choose. It is fantastic to see photos and hear stories from those communities, building schools and businesses with machinery my team helped repair. I know that every day I step through the doors of Workaid, I really can help make a difference in the world.
