Tagaste Vocational Training Centre
The Tagaste Vocational Training Centre is in Njombe, which is in the South West country, about 80km from Lake Malawi. Zifrid Mgan graduated from the school after a three-year course. He was born in 1994, his father died when he was just one year old and his mother died when he was nine. Zifrid was brought up by his grandmother, who looked after him and made sure he studied hard at school. On completion of his secondary education in 2012, he enrolled in the Tagaste Vocational School and graduated in Mechanics. His hope now is that he will be able to find work so that he can support himself and his grandmother.
Looking to the future
As with many of the graduates the school would like to give Zifrid a set of tools to help him get established, but unfortunately, it just does not have enough spare. Workaid is trying hard to find ways of helping this and other projects so that they can give their graduates ‘starter kits’. The school also runs electrical installation and tree surgery courses.
If you would like to get involved then why not volunteer or make a donation and help make a difference.
